Transylvania Regional Hospital will host a Bone Marrow Registry Drive June 30 from 3-6 p.m. at the hospital lobby. People ages 18-44 are encouraged to participate in this drive.
For thousands with blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases like sickle cell anemia, a bone marrow transplant is their only option. There is no cost involved to either be on the registry or to donate should you be a match. A simple cheek swab puts you on the registry and if you are a match you typically go home the same day you donate.
Did you know that 70% of patients needing a marrow transplant do not have a match in their family. Come and join this lifesaving list.
If you are unable to attend the event, please join the registry online: join.bethematch.org/Jackson
