Observed on the last Monday of May, Memorial Day is considered the unofficial start of summer. It’s also one of the most popular grilling days of the year, with hamburgers and hot dogs dominating the menu. In fact, 818 hot dogs are consumed  every second from Memorial Day to Labor Day — that’s 7 billion hot dogs in just four months!

The sweetness of the red grapes and blueberries cuts the saltiness of the gorgonzola, an Italian blue-veined cheese known for its “bite.” Nutrient-dense pistachios  add vitamin B6, omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. This low-calorie dish can be served on its own or as a side.
2. Garlicky grilled shrimp
Shrimp is a dish that can be enjoyed any time of year, but it’s even better when you can put it on the grill on a hot day. After marinating for 15 minutes, these shrimp skewers  go from grill to table in less than 10 minutes. You can serve them on their own or over steamed rice.
