Over the years, hospital cafeterias haven’t gotten the best reputation. We’re trying to change that – on Sept. 30, you’re invited to step into the future of hospital dining at an all-new cafeteria at Mission Hospital.
The new cafeteria, which will open on the first floor of the Mission Hospital Memorial Campus in the J Building, will feel more like your favorite food court got an upgrade, rather than the typical hospital cafeteria.
An immersive dining experience
“Our team is excited to bring to Mission Hospital a state-of-the-art cafeteria environment,” said Emily McCabe, director of food and nutrition services at Mission Hospital. “Each food station has its own identity and concept with an overall focus on wellness. Team members and visitors will be able to come to the cafeteria and experience a different food journey each time.”
Visitors and team members can expect a truly interactive and immersive dining experience – a standard and experience we hope to bring to all of our hospitals in the future.
While the new cafeteria is not located within the new Mission Hospital North Tower, the new facility paved the way for space to replace the current cafeteria with an all-new dining area for team members and hospital visitors.
Sit and stay a while
With more than 12,000 square feet of dining space, connoisseurs of delicious cuisine will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of stations – make your own pizza, choose from international-inspired dishes, visit the deli station for your favorite sandwiches, wraps and sides and even customize your order as the food is being prepared.
With plenty of food options, there’s enough comfortable seating to choose from. Lounge, sit at the counter, pick a booth or a high-top table where you can watch your omelet cook to your liking on a central-island grill.
In a hurry?
Grab from an abundance of snack options if you’re on the go, or order from the new kiosks.
The new cafeteria includes self-service order kiosks both in and outside the cafeteria where you can order at the tap of a screen and pay by the swipe of a debit or credit card. Two order-and-pay kiosks located directly outside the entrance allow you to place your order before you even enter the cafeteria.
Have some time to sit and enjoy your lunch? Friendly faces from Food and Nutrition will still be glad to check you out at the register.
The new cafeteria at Mission Hospital will be open for business Monday, Sept. 30 on the first floor of the Mission Hospital Memorial Campus in the J Building – the current cafeteria on the second floor will close that same day. Visitors can enter the cafeteria directly from the front of the hospital using Entrance 3.
The cafeteria hours will not change:
- Breakfast: 6:15 -10:15 am
- Lunch: 11 am-2 pm
- Dinner: 4:30-7:30 pm
- Late night: 11 pm-2 am
The Mission Hospital North Tower opens for patient care the weekend of Oct. 5-6.
