Providing the Care You Need. No Matter What.

Because Blue Cross NC has repeatedly ignored Mission Health’s requests to negotiate, as well as the collective plea of western North Carolinians to join Mission at the table to discuss their contract, we are nearing the date when many of those with Blue Cross plans will be out of network.

It is extremely unfortunate that the insurance company intends to push Mission Health and your beloved providers out of network as soon as this Thursday, October 5.

But Mission Health stands with you no matter what, because our patients are – and will always be – our No. 1 priority. We are committed to providing you with the information you need to ensure you are prepared to make the best decisions for you and your family. That’s why we encourage you to keep the following three things in mind as we approach October 5.

  • Mission tried to compromise – Mission Health has made three offers of compromise to Blue Cross since we told them that we would not take their “forever zero” contract. Unfortunately, Blue Cross NC rejected each of them, continuing to ignore the simple request to return to the table to negotiate.
  • You have options for your care and to keep your doctor – If October 5 arrives with no agreement, it’s important to know that you still have options to keep the care you prefer with Mission Health. Keep in mind that emergency care is always in network and that some patients will be eligible for Continuity of Care, including women in their second or third trimester of pregnancy. Also, Mission Health will offer discounts and payment plans, and will continue to provide care regardless of patients’ insurance or ability to pay.
  • This checklist will prepare you for your care – Our patients shouldn’t be forced to navigate changes in Blue Cross NC’s provider network on their own, so we’re providing you with the information you need to ensure you are prepared to make the best decisions for you and your family. The Healthcare Plan Checklist gives you the information you need to continue getting care when and where you need it, even if Blue Cross NC is out of network.
