What You Need to Know about Blue Cross NC – Mission Tried to Compromise

With only days left until October 5, it appears likely that Blue Cross will force Mission Health and your beloved doctors out of its provider network by being unwilling to negotiate or reach a compromise.

We have heard from many of our patients and a common question is, “Why don’t you simply compromise?”

What you need to know:

In addition to attempting to negotiate for the last eight months, Mission Health also made three offers of compromise to Blue Cross since we told them that we would not take their forever 0 contract:

  • Blue Cross NC could accept the fair and reasonable offer that Mission Health made back in June.
  • Mission Health could accept Blue Cross’ demands for a “one year, zero rate increase pause” as part of a long-term contract that also ensures Mission’s long-term stability. This would be contingent upon Blue Cross NC having an “increase pause” for you, its customers.
  • Most practically, Blue Cross NC and Mission Health could ignore the past, start anew and negotiate an agreement that ensures high quality, affordable and effective care for the one million people who count on us.

While we may never know why Blue Cross NC rejected our offers to compromise and ensure your care with Mission Health remained in network, we do know patients will always be our No. 1 priority at Mission Health.
